Life Around Here – Florida Winter

mom blogger

I don’t think I am ever going to get used to fall leaves in January, but I’ll take it. At least it’s something! We’ve had a really unseasonable time of raw, damp weather the past couple of weeks. Normally I don’t mind the cold but I haven’t been feeling well and this time it seemed like the dampness went right through me. I was even wearing a hat and scarves around the house. Florida houses are not well insulated and are often completely tiled. It sometimes seems colder in the house than outside!

Nicolas has settled into middle school nicely. I have not been up there to visit too much as I’ve been perpetually ill for a few months. I finally went to the doctor and they’ve ordered a battery of blood work.

2014 will bring two graduating seniors, one from college and one from high school. It really does go by just as fast I was warned! I’m proud of the adults they’ve become and look forward to what God will do in their lives.

  1. San Diego homes aren’t well-insulated either and it feels colder to me in my house sometimes than it did when we lived in New York! Love the picture of that gorgeous tree. I love our palm trees, too, but definitely miss those colors!

  2. Hope this finds you feeling better! I hate it when the air gets that damp chill, even up here in NY; it’s not nice (to say the least!)

  3. I remember visiting my grandparents in Florida and they would always be chilly even in what we New Englanders considered practically summer weather! :) It may be hard to get used to, but those leaves sure are pretty!
